Between my hard drive crash and the other projects I am launching, I have seriously neglected this blog. I apologize for that. However, here is what I have learned over the past 2 to 3 weeks. I am starting to comprehend how to build blog traffic. Even with my sad updates, I am receiving 150 hits per day. This is twice what I had last month…. I have you to thank for that!!!!!!!
I make a commitment to update this blog as least four times per week from here on. I truly want to update you with the new information that I have gained over these past few weeks.
My projects have been fivefold.
1. I am creating three new blogs. Two of which will be linked to this site. One deals with green energy, the other is dedicated to living in Brazil. The final blog will not be posted here, because it is a adult oriented. I am going to use the use three new blogs as a type of scattershot to see what pulls of the best numbers. In addition, to see which blog I enjoy working with the most. However, this blog will stay my main focus from here on out.
2. I am also now delving into harvesting affiliate resources. I am looking into a website called Commission Junction. As I said in my last post I wanted to have Carbonite as an affiliate. This affiliate program led me to commission Junction. Commission Junction is a site that offers many different advertisers to place on your website. However, I am still working out the details of how this program works. It seems that it takes some time for to approve me as a publisher of their advertisement.
3. Ad Words is the next project I need to understand. Most websites derive the majority of their income from Google Ad Words. I am not experiencing this phenomenon therefore, it is imperative that I learn the ins and outs of Ad Words and Ad Sense.
4. I am also starting a blind leading the blind project. Basically it is this, new bloggers talking to each other about what works and how to set things up. As we each glean a piece of information, we share with the others of the group.
5. Lastly, at least for this month is that I am going back through all of my posts, and all of my eHow articles to improve the search engine optimization on these. I’ve noticed that over 95% of my hits are from direct links. Less than 2% are from search engines. This is a problem. On one hand it means of that and the grass roots interest in my projects are growing, however, it also means that people searching for this information are not finding it. I think that this month I will be spending considerable time looking into how to further increase the search engine optimization.
Just so you understand this is all new to me also, that is why we are in this together between this and my eHow challenge project my plate is full. But, the plate tastes good. LOLOL. I am looking forward to your suggestions and comments……. As a sidebar, someone sent an e-mail to me suggesting improvements in my web design, (because they did not send it as a comment I will not publicly give their information) and I did take their suggestions to heart and changed some things in this blog. So please, critique me, berate me, and tell me what you want to see.
