From time to time, I would like to talk about other ways to create passive income. Granted, this blog will mostly focus on Internet passive income. However, there are many other things in my life that could be adjusted to create passive income.

Currently, I am searching for a roommate. This has turned into a frustrating experience. I have a two-bedroom apartment, but I live her alone. I thought it might be wise to rent out the other bedroom. My rent is $875 per month and I want to rent them a room out for $425 per month. The frustrating part is that many of these applicants are people that I do not think I could get along with in this apartment. I think I need to keep trying.

This experience, however, has made me think. If I am wasting an entire bedroom that could be producing passive income, how many other things am I wasting? I think we all do things, or have things that other people want. Why not rent these things to those people? Or combine efforts to save money, such as carpooling. I have started to think about things that I am wasting that other people might want.

Some numbers. If a roommate pays me $425 per month,   and we split the cost of electricity at approximately $25 per month, that equals $450 that I did not have last month. That’s not bad. If I carpool with somebody, and charge them two dollars per day, for five days per week, that is $43 per month.

Maybe you can think of things in your life that you’re wasting. Do you have a garage that you could rent out? Do you have some extra land that you let people store their boats or cars? Get creative!

Granted, to do these things we must change our lifestyle a little. However, is that so different from creating online passive income? To create online passive income, we have to use our leisure time to create content, correct? These things are simply another change in lifestyle.

As I make these changes to create these other forms of passive income, I will not include the totals in my monthly income reports to you. The reason is that my ultimate goal is to create portable passive income. I want to be able to sit on a beach in Brazil, and create passive income streams. Therefore, these types of passive income streams will not work towards that goal. In the meantime, however, these are certainly things that we could look at. Also, I am not opposed to increasing my current passive income by almost $500 per month.

Of course, I have only mentioned the obvious things. I am sure that a creative mind could come up with many different ways to create passive income out of the things that they are currently wasting: such as living space, travel, dining out, etc.

I think it is worth it to look into these things and decide if there is a passive income stream that you could create today.
